Practice Error and Friday Mornings The practice schedule prior to May 29 on the website was incorrectly configured. There are four evening practices at John Sevier Pool. Monday through Thursday at 7pm are Hourglass, Risso and Bottleneck Dolphins. 8pm practices are for Dusky, Spinner and Striped Dolphins.Also, please note, we will begin Friday morning practices at Maryville College on Friday, June 5. At 9:30 a.m., the Bottlenose Dolphins will practice. At 10:30 a.m. the Dusky, Spinner and Striped Dolphins will practice. The online practice schedule has been updated to reflect these changes.
Mock Meet This Thursday
The mock meet with take place this Thursday, at Springbrook Pool. This meet serves two purposes. The coaches can get a chance to record official times for swimmers and the parents are trained on all the jobs available to work during meets.Swimmers should arrive at the pool at 5:00 p.m. As soon as the swimmers arrive, we will take the team photo.When parents arrive, they will receive a colored card. This card signifies to each parent which group they will be in. There will be three groups. Each group will go to three different stations of the pool. At each time at each area, you will learn what every job looks like and run the meet for about 45 minutes at each station. We will then stop the meet, rotate groups, train each group on different jobs, and then continue the meet.This gives our parents an opportunity to learn all the non-official jobs and then allows you to pick which jobs you would like to perform during the dual meets. GKAISA Forms Must Be Turned In
In order for all swimmers to swim at dual meets, a GKAISA form must be turned in. If you signed up online, or signed up prior to GKAISA forms being available at Parks and Rec, you must print one off from the website or pick one up from the board or coaches. These must be turned in this week. If you have any questions, or need to turn in a form, please see a board member at one of the evening practices.
Trial Week Ends June 3
The last practice for the trial week will be the morning practices on Wednesday, June 3. Participation in the trial week is free until then, but all forms and payment must be turned in to Parks and Rec to join the team by 5:00 p.m. on June 3.
First Dual Meet of the Season
The first dual meet of the season is Tuesday, June 9 vs. Robindale Woods. Set up will begin at 4:30 p.m. with warm ups for the Dolphins to start at 5:00 p.m. at Springbrook Pool. Please be sure you have signed your swimmer up to attend all the meets as well as have a GKAISA form turned in.Also, please be sure you sign up to volunteer at least one half of the meet. Remember, each shift you volunteer, you will receive a Dolphin Dollar, which is good for a free gift of your choice from the goody box, or can be used towards Dolphin merchandise. You can sign up on the Parents page of the Dolphins website or see a board member during evening practices to sign up. |
